How do you follow an incredible TechBiz Connection event, like August's sold-out Anatomy of a Successful Tech Venture, moderated by Guy Kawasaki?

You dig deeper. Focus on the unique challenges of the start-up. Bring in a panel of renowned experts. And highlight the entrepreneurs: those who successfully navigated the startup minefields, culminating in mergers or IPOs. Another, founder of an early stage company, already working through the rookie mistakes, and pointing her venture in the direction of success.

PANELISTS:

- International Technology Partners (Orange) -
J. Fernando Niebla,  President

Founder of Infotech Development Inc., a Top 40 Federal Contractor in 1996 when Niebla successfully merged it with a public company. He is a member of the boards of directors of Union Bank of California and Pacific Life, and serves on the Business & Technology Advisory Board for (NAFIN) Nacional Financiera (Mexican Government Development Bank). Niebla was appointed by President Reagan to chair the National Council on Vocational Education, and by President Bush to the Defense Policy Advisory Board. He has a BSEE from the University of Arizona, a MSQBA from USC, and is a CCST Fellow (California Council on Science and Technology).

SuperLab is a licensee of the GroupGeniusT suite of human performance technologies for start-up and emerging growth companies.

- Rutan & Tucker (Costa Mesa) - Robert Fish, Chair,
Intellectual Property and Technology Group

An internationally regarded expert on intellectual property law, Fish's clients have included companies like Fluor Corp., ICN Pharmaceuticals, Honeywell and SRI International. Recognized as an InfoWorld CTO of the Year finalist, he founded or co-founded several successful consulting startups, which were later acquired for their products or services.

- Lumetique (Studio City) - DayNa Decker, President & Founder
A top fashion model with the prestigious Ford agency, and accomplished artist and designer, Decker studied product design at The Art Center in Pasadena and finance at UCLA. She has four patents pending with her new startup, and has been navigating the minefields, ready to share some very recent war stories.

Moderator: John Garcia, Principal & Managing Partner - Angel Strategies

Whether you are an entrepreneur well on your way, or just thinking of getting on the road, this is a one-of-a-kind event you won't want to miss. Find out now (before you find out the hard way) answers to questions like:

  • What are the top three rookie mistakes most every entrepreneur makes, and how can you avoid them?

  • How do you identify the right kind of advisers for your venture, and what does it take to recruit the very best?

  • Which comes first, the ostrich or the egg? Should you even consider seeking equity capital before you have a working product in the market? When are the right and wrong times to sell equity? And the right and wrong people to sell to?

  • How do you build a dream team? How do you define what holes need filling, and when should they be filled?

  • How important is intellectual property? How do you protect it? When should you sell it?

  • What are the four toughest questions every entrepreneur should ask of themselves without fail?

If you have questions for our panelists, please email them to Jack Bicer at president@TechBizConnection.org.

This event is likely to sell out quickly, so please RSVP today!
