Innovation
Sustainable competitive advantage comes from the creation and nurturing of an innovation engine
that develops and brings to market products and services that provide customer value on an
ongoing basis. Innovation is the creation of customer value through invention. However,
simply thinking up potential new products or services is not enough - the customer's unmet &
sometimes unexpressed needs must be considered - in fact, incorporated into the product
creation processes that a firm implements. How do we best consider customer needs & include
them into the product creation process, without running the risk of just providing known approaches
and incremental improvements?
And, in an era when customers no longer evaluate & select products and services based solely on their
features, functions, and technical specifications, attention must also be given to the overall
experience they have with the company. Those companies that can best engage with their customers by
providing them with rich, meaningful experiences will have a distinct, differentiated and sustainable
competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Our next TechBiz Connection panel will bring together senior technology executives across multiple
disciplines who have successfully built innovation cultures within their organizations.
